Salford Heart Care are proud to announce that they have been selected as a recipient for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2014.
The award is the equivalent of an MBE for volunteer groups and recognises the commitment, dedication and support of their team of more than 50 volunteers across Salford! The Irlam and Cadishead Healthy Heart Club meet at Irlam Steel Club with other groups at venues in Eccles, Salford and Little Hulton.
Three representatives of Salford Heart Care, Directors Marion El Qasem and Jim Collins together with co-ordinator Serena Rice from Irlam were invited to attend the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 10th June. They also received a signed certificate from Her Majesty the Queen and an English Crystal with the logo insignia that will be presented locally by the Lord Lieutenant for Greater Manchester in August.
The Irlam and Cadishead Healthy Heart Club had double reason to celebrate as it was also there 5th Birthday in June. The group celebrated with a ‘Swinging Sixties’ Party with live music, hot food and plenty of dancing at Irlam Steel Club.
Serena said, “We are delighted to receive the award and it’s thanks to the hard work and support of our volunteers, I couldn’t do it all on my own. We enjoyed a wonderful day at the Palace Garden party. Here’s to a long and healthy future for Salford Heart Care and it’s Clubs.”
