Doing the weekly shop, a local appointment or just getting out and about has been made a lot easier for the over 65’s in Irlam and Cadishead.
Positive Moves CIC have been able to get funding to bring back ‘door to door’ transport for older people in our community. Sylvia McDowell told Times News, “We have secured some further funding from the Clinical Commissioning Group to provide a service in Irlam and Cadishead for older people over 65, who are feeling a little bit low and who would like the opportunity to get out and about in their local community.”
The service currently runs every Tuesday and Friday between 10am and 3pm with transport provided to and from home. Each journey costs £1.50 in the Irlam and Cadishead District but transport to other areas will cost more.
The Service is only available to people who have registered and you will also need to book your transport one week in advance using the following numbers to contact Casey or Dave between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday on 0161 777 9973 or 07926 708 709.
Sylvia added, “If you know of any people in our Community who are isolated and would like to use this service please let them know. Please contact us for a Registration form or to update your previous form and return it to us to let us know if you want to use the service. We have also produced a leaflet to show what other activities are going on in the area and we will be organizing four social events within the 12 month period which we would like you to take part in. Past events have included trips to Apple wood Farm, Lymm and Bury Market.”
Over 100 people used this service last year and will be glad to see it back and running again so make use of it by calling the above numbers!
