With a live band, DJ Steve Berry and dozens of trophies to be presented the Irlam and Cadishead ‘Log End’ end of Season Presentation Night at Irlam Steel Club proved to be a fantastic night.
Derek Styles started the Presentation by thanking Steve Higgs, Lee Norris and John Castle for their continued hard work and dedication as part of the Leagues hard working committee.
Runners up in the Pairs Competition were John Castle and Mark Paul, John reaching his 7th final and a past winner five times the last in 1997. The winners were popular father and son duo Kevin and Colin Harvey taking the trophy for the first time after coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
In the Individual competition Tony Barlow was, as last year, runner up in his third final after taking the title in 2008. He lost out 3-0 to the in form Matthew Shaw who achieved a nine darter in the final not seen in the league since 1991 when Tommy Hulme won in a quarter final.
Matthew has had a great season playing for the Steelworks he also won the First Division Least Darts trophy and was part of the team that finished runner up in the First Division title race.
First Division winners were the Steelworks Nomads with Tiger Moth winning the Gallon Competition to add to their runners up spot in the Knockout competition.
In the second division White Horse took the honours taking both the title and the Gallon winners, to add to their Knockout Cup and Tommy Sedgwick Cup victories for a great haul of silverware, with the Higher Irlam Social Club second division runners up.
The Foxley Fours, Benevolent Fund and Chris Benson Night raised a fantastic £733.00 that was presented to the Macmillan Nurses. With the winners of the Chris Benson Charity Cup going to the team from Corky’s Wino’s.
